I have not been on in a while, I had a great year with little or no flaring, but things changed this summer.

I am dealing with a Recto-vaginal fistula that can not be located.  We decided to go the route of Remi to see if it might help.  I was on Remi several years ago, but got no relief ( I had a stricture), so we discontinued it and had surgery instead.

Anyway I had my first infusion on Aug.17, no problems with infusion.  On this past Monday I woke with unbearable joint pain all over the body, fever, sore throat.  It was the first day back for our school dist. teachers so I had lots of work to do sad .

I lasted for a couple of hours, went home and found my fever to be 102 and pain getting worse, went to doc. he said I had infection going on and almost said the "hospital" word.

As of today I am feeling less sore, still low grade temp. I am on Cipro, and back on pred.  Needless to say no Remi tomorrow. We will wait to see how healing goes.

Anyone with similar reaction, or such a delayed reaction confused

Thanks for your help, you are all so wonderful tongue

Anne,

Two things come to mind. First, perhaps you picked up a bug somewhere that caused your fever. A fever alone can cause joint and muscle pain. My second thought is along your lines of thinking - that you had a reaction to Remicade. Serum sickness is a problem that can occur with Remicade. It is a reaction to the foreign protein in the Remicade. Fever, joint pain and a host of other symptoms accompany serum sickness. There is good, general info on serum sickness here: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000820.htm

Hi Anne-

I have horrible joint pain and headahce and chill for a few days after remi. I take benydryl those days to help alleviate the symptoms a bit.

Maybe you have an abscess? Maybe that's why you have a fever. I know that my remi was delayed in May because I had an abscess. The Drs. said it could get worse and make me very sick. I did end up getting an abscess anyway after my 2nd infusion.....Oh,well.

Feel better soon and keep us posted. :-)

Hi Some aches may happen my pharmasist said for me to take tyneol and not the other stuff like Ibproph. for it I do have some periods of pain that do not last more then a day or so and then I am fine. I might have taken tyneol about 3 times out of 4 IV's. Hope your feeling better I did not get the sore throat thing .I did have good results healing my abdominal fistula and is still healed. That was a huge relief to me getting that healed it was aroud my third IV that it healed. I first noticed it would bleed and soon was healed hoping the best for the healing of your fistula. lol gail
