Learned today that we should put NSAIDS down as an allergy when we fill out medical history forms for new doctors. Even though you'd expect doctors to know better they will still recommend them or RX them unless you put it down on your forms. Anything you know you can't take put down in the allergy area (even though we aren't really allergic) and explain that you can't take them.
I had an opthalmologist recommend NSAIDs today. I said I couldn't take it and he reread the sheet three times, like it should have been there. Sorry there wasn't a section for meds that are contraindicated w/ my current meds or my chronic illness. I've had something similar happen before. Apparently many doctors don't stop to think about
the complications of what they prescribe or recommend other than checking it against our known allergies. Don't assume they will know better because they don't, or just don't think about
it.

Yes, my GI's past and present have always warned me to avoid NSAIDS not because of allergy but because they promote intestinal bleeding....stick to tylenol, no aspirin, advil, aleive, ect.

Inflamed...very good suggestion! Wish I could take straight Tylenol PB4. For some reason I excrete foam in place of the BM and have immediate nausea with the Tylenol. However, I can take Percocet?! Go figure!
