Hi there,

When I first went on Entecort a month agp I still had three days left on a liquid diet.  I drank 6 Ensures a day.  Those three days I was so dizzy, couldn't focus my vision, was slurring my speech - essentially it seemed as though I was drunk.  Everybody noticed... I was afraid to drive my car!  Once I began eating the feeling went away.  Just this weekend I am having the same dizzy feeling and trouble focusing.

Has anyone had a similar experience??

(I guess I should mention that I'm also on Pentasa and am currently doing a course of antibiotics, apo amoxi-clav, for a root canal.  Boo.)

Entocort usually has very low side effects since it's mostly topical. It does make one pass through the circulatory system, if I understood my GI. But anything is possible. It could be that you're getting this effect when it makes its initial pass through the system

It could also be from combined occurrences, such as the antibiotics you're currently on and the liquid diet last month (with the Entocort). Re the root canal: you have my sympathy.

Hi Honeybun,
I would call your doctor and let then no about being dizzy. It could be from the liquid diet.

I was dizzy when I first started entocort. I would drive to work, then eat, and then take it. Eating made it somewhat better but at least I had already drove to work so it wasn't as scary to be dizzy. But there were days I would just stare at my work and not be able to do it. So frustrating. I just couldn't concentrate and like you said, felt drunk.

I was very dizzy, had a sore mouth and started having breathing trouble after 4 days. My doc made me get off it since I have asthma and they were worried that the breathing problems could be an allergic reaction. Good luck.
