I am curious to if the pain I get is just a normal crohns attack or if maybe it might be something more serious.  I could just be sitting there and WHAM I get this pain.....I can't even breath it lasts about 1-2 minutes like something is squeezing my insides so tight I can say its pretty darn close to severe labor pains and thats how it comes too...... it lets go long enough to take a couple of breaths and relax for about 3-5 minutes then happens again and this keeps happening until I am able to go to the washroom (which can take up to an hour sometimes)  When this happens I feel like I could scream in pain if only I could take a breath big enough to let out a scream...... Does this happen to anyone else, is this just a regular crohns thing that happens to everyone or could something more be going on in there.  Thanks for your help!!

I am fairly new to this, and I haven't had this symptom but it doesn't sound normal to me. Hopefully someone will come along with more information that will help you. Hope you get feeling better soon.

This is exactly the type of pain I had before surgery.  I had a stricture and a fistula just above that feeding back into my colon.  I don't have had kids but I have heard the comparison to labor pains....except mine lasted for a year.

Not fun, hope you feel better soon.

It sounds like you might be experiencing pain caused by a combination of stricture and inflammation. The stricture makes the bowels have to work harder to move feces through, the inflammation makes that constriction very painful. I liken it to having an infected hangnail or an abscessed tooth. When you press on it, it hurts like crazy -- I think the same thing happens when you have inflammation in the bowel. The constriction of the bowel is like putting your finger on a boil.

In none of my three labours did I experience pain anywhere near as intense as I have felt at times because of my disease. Pain should probably be a signal. Share what's going on with your GI.
