Take them to your pharmacy for proper disposal. Do not flush them. Do not put them in the garbage. Flushed medications are extremely toxic to the environment. The only safe disposal I know of is through your pharmacy. Most pharmacies have agreements with state or provincial governments or professional associations to dispose of meds.

Hi I totally agree with Belleenstein. Take all unused meds to your local pharmacy.

The Chemists in my area had a blitz on last year for people to return all their unwanted unused medication, a few weeks later they announced in the local paper from what was returned they'd come to the conclusion GP's were over prescribing.!

My sister's husbands Dad passed away a couple of years ago, (This was in the UK) and it seemed he was a bit of a hypercondriact, they discovered literally a garbage bin full of meds, seems he was working a few Doctors, the local Dr, who lives next door to them is from Africa somewhere, extremely poor country and he returns once a year to his village, and happily accepted all these unwanted meds to take back to his homeland as they were still viable.
