yeah  Just a reminder that the flu shot season is fast approaching!  Have you scheduled yours?  October is generally the month most Drs. have their serum.  I think this year, due to the Humira, I'll be getting a pneumonia shot as well.  I really like you guys and I'd hate to see this immune suppressed bunch land in the hospital over something like the flu!

I also thought if you are on Humira you should not get a flu shot because it is a live vaccine in the shot. I could be wrong but you better check.

The Flu shot or Pneumonia shots are not a live vaccines.  So it is allowed with Methotrexate and Humira.  I get my flu shots every year.  While people are really sick all around me, I haven't gotten sick with the Flu in a few years now.

For those of us on the biologics (Enbrel, Remicade & Humira) with or without the MTX, the flu mist (spray for the nose) is absolutely a no-no due to the live virus. The shot is fine. I'd also recommend a pneumonia shot - I had one 3 winters ago and have been cold and sinus infection free (so far). It's been wonderful. A flu shot is in order if you always get the flu - since I haven't had the flu in 20 years, I don't get one. Talk to your doctor!

I never get them...my mom has UC and she used to get them but always felt sick for a while after, she stopped getting them and does pretty good without them...not saying no one should get them, just sharing.

Hi - I haven't had a flu shot for the past couple of years because I got so ill after my flu shot in 05. I may try again this year, but thanks for the heads up that those on the biologics should not use the flu mist.

A case of the flu landed me in the ER after I was diagnosed with IBD. I don't take chances now... I get a shot every year.

I wish they had a flu shot for the stomach bugs! That's what I have trouble with every year (usually get it 2-3 times a year, and they always get so sever that I end up in the ER).
