I am a teacher and I have a very stressful class this school year.  I can't take it.  I have a student that spits and I am on immune suppressant (Not to mention the student has chronic sinusitis) I will be going to the GI doctor tomorrow.  What do I need to tell him to convince him that I am not able to work?  I need to be out starting tomorrow.  Please help me!

Thank you-

Do you have private disability insurance are you talking about SSDI? Are you a special needs teacher? If not can't these kids be disciplined, sent out of class, suspended etc? No teacher should have to put up w/ kids spitting in class. If you have an extra bad class and you can't get disability or in the interim could you request a teacher's aid?

To file an application for disability benefits an individual must visit a local Social Security Office or call the Social Security Administration’s toll-free number 1(800)772-1213. They will ask for information from you. It is advisable to have the following information available:

  • Social Security Number

  • Birth Certificate

  • Details of medical history, including the names and addresses of any doctors or hospitals where treatment was received, the dates of treatment and any tests done.

The Social Security Administration also has the basic disability application and a guide on how to complete it available on line. That address is http://www.socialsecurity.gov/applyfordisability/.

Hi,

Don't sugar coat your symptoms. Tell it the way it is.

being spit on is assault... im sure the kid could be removed somehow.  i often wonder also how all the different microbes the kids bring in act upon an immune suppressed preson(like leading to flares due to stressed immune function)? could that be reason of why you cant work? maybe the kids are giving you some extra colds you dont need. the disability application should include information of how you are not able to function normally.
