OMG I could strangle someone right now!  I got a message last night from the center that is going to be doing my Remicade treatments.  I, of course, leave the number at home this morning so I can't call them back.  I call my GI's office and ask the girl for the information. She tells me that she does not have it and that I would have to leave a message for the nurse to call me back, I said OK.  Then it hit me.  I hang up and call back and ask her if there is anyone else who would have the number.  She says no that it is only one nurse who could help me and that she is in with patients.  I told her that I did not understand how no one else could have the number as a reference or in the computer.  She simply said no she doesn't and she could make up a number for me if I would like!!!!  I wanted to jump through the phone and strangle the witch!!!!  She didn't even try to help me, she didn't even ask anyone or check in the system.  How could a Dr.'s office be so rude!  I have to go down there today for the follow up on my TB test and boy are they going to get it!  Are there any NON-RUDE offices out there anymore???? Geeeez!

Thanks for letting me vent!

Good Morning,

Sheesh! I totally understand your frustration. I was once a medical secretary and I would never speak to any of the patients in that way. I would definately ask to speak to the office manager and explain what exactly took place between you and the receptionist.

Also I would mention it to your doctor the next time you come in contact with him/her. They will certainly nip that type of stuff in the bud when they hear it come from their patients.

This girl definately needs a change of attitude if she wants to continue to work in healthcare.

Sorry to hear that someone had to start your day off like this. Hope everything works out for you with your results and your Remicade treatment.

Girl, some of the morons that get jobs in these offices need a good slap back into reality. They have no concept of what it's like to live with chronic illness. God forbid they ever get sick like that. One can only hope for karma...... Anyway, let them have it and tell the doctor because that's the only way anything will get done about it. The office manager isn't even a good one to tell because as long as they hide it from the doc their butts are safe. Lemme guess... she's about 23 with fake nails and chews gum????

Let us know how it goes after you go down and give them "what for".

Well I went to the Dr.'s and they were as nice as can be...they had the phone number that I needed waiting for me on my chart. I wasn't even sitting in the waiting room for more than a minute. The only person I got to see was the nurse so I wasn't able to speak with the doctor. There was no office manager in so I wasn't even able to complain to them. I go back in a few weeks and am definately going to speak with the doctor directly. I avoided going to this office because my Primary had told me that the doctors were very good but she had a lot of complaints about the staff. Unfortunately I went through 12 doctors that would not see me so I was left with no other choice!! I don't want the royal treatment but a little bit of cooperation would be nice. She wasn't 23, that's the sad part. She looks like she's in her mid to late thirties. Let's hope Karma gives her a nice big bite on the rear! =o)

I had a terrible experience with of all places, the pharmacy in our area. We moved recently, after having spent a two week stay in the hospital. We tried to establish ourselves with a new local pharmacy, giving them all of my business, which included approximately 7- 8 prescriptions at that time. They could only fill part of them, but did not tell us anything until we went to pick them up, and left us to get them filled elsewhere. Our biggest complaint is that they told us they would call the doctor to check on the order and that was that, they left us hanging. At first, we thought it was because we were new and they did not really know us, but it happened numerous times after that. There were several times, when I was depending on that medication to stabilize my condition, and they just did not care. They repeatedly claimed they would call the doctor and after we called the doctor ourselves, discovered that they had never called. They downright lied and jeopardized my health. We were left to find another pharmacy who would and could service all of my needs, even if it is a 20 minute ride away. This new pharmacy has been great and goes the extra mile for someone in real need. Kudos to Forer Pharmacy in Princeton, NJ.

Major- Pharmacies are just as pathetic sometimes. No pharmacy ever carries enough of my Pentasa Rx so I always make them check before I leave bc they will do the exact same thing to me. It's sad to say but you have to be a bit of a witch to get people to do things the way they are supposed to. I hate bugging people but I no longer have a choice with doctors and pharmacies. After all the bill my insurance plenty!

Ga- I will hopefully start the Rem in the next few weeks. I am back on my Pentasa now (they had tried switching me to Lialda which did NOTHING for me) so my tummy pains are under control again, Thank God. I am hoping my fissures will start feeling better in the first 2-3 infusions. I can't take the pain anymore. One fissure is bad enough but 2 is just a whole other ball game. I swear I could live in my tub of hot water!

Desk dragons strike again! Sounds like the witch I encountered last year in my previous urologist's office. Not only rude, but disliked me enough to lie about me not making a payment I owed on previous treatment.

What can you do?
