Did you have a remicade infusion in your 1st month/1st trimester? Any problems? Is it safe? I know it's a class B drug but I am curious about your experiences...

Thanks,

ginger

Hi Ginger!

My name's Ginger too!  :-)    I took my first Remicade treatment right around the time I got pregnant.  I don't know if I was pregnant before or after but I went on to have a healthy happy baby who is now 5 years old.  I don't know if it was the Remicade that put me into remission or the pregnancy itself but I had no problems again until after I had her.  Then later on my gallbladder stopped working and a year later (I hadn't taken Remicade again) my CD started up again.  I had trouble with my insurance and by the time they finally agreed to let me have Remicade again, I had already been hospitalized.  After my 3rd treatment, I became allergic to it.  But to answer your question - the Remicade didn't seem to have an effect on my pregnancy but like I said, it was right about the time of conception that I had the infusion.

Hope that helps a little!

Ginger

Hi Ginger! I have 2 remicade babies and with the first one I had the first infusion at 5 weeks pregnant and one at 10 weeks (was getting them every 5 weeks throughout). With baby #2, I had the first one at 6 weeks pregnant and then again at 13 weeks. I go into remission while pregnant so I decided with baby #2 to stretch out the time between infusions. All was well and my two kiddos are GREAT! (Now 3yrs and 1yr old!)

I have a 6-week old daughter and had Remicade at weeks 4 and 12.  She was completely healthy with no effects from the Remicade.  Hope that helps!

Thanks, everyone! What about if you're in your 1st month? Could that be really bad?

Thanks,again! :-)
