I start to step down again today on the pred. Ive been on 40 mg for 3 weeks then last sunday went to 30mg a day. Today I go to 20mg. Wish me luck, last time I got down to 20mg I started to flare again. Im on HUMIRA now though so I hope it is what has been making me feel better.

Hi,

Hope today is another good day for you. I was steriod dependant too a long time ago. Like you every time they tried to ween me off I would start to flare.  Finally Remicade became available in 1999 and my GI felt so good about it that he urged me to try it. I was so very scared, but thanks to him it worked and it is still working!

I do have an occasional flare from time to time but I can take care of it on my own with no problems...just slowing down to a liquid diet for a while and plenty of rest.

Recently I had a small intestinal blockage that did hospitalize me and I did have to go on a steriod drip for a few days and came home on an antibotic and entocort for a month. I am finally weened off of that too.

Remicade has worked so well for me that there was no need to switch to Humira once that became available.

Good Luck...I hope you're on the road to recovery! Just be your own Hero!!!

I now have to watch my sugar on the pred. which was a little adjustment for me but am trying to avoid those sweets.I am eating corn twist for a snack and that helps when I feel I have to endugle there is no sugar in them.Best Wishes and continued good health sent your way. lol gail
