Has anyone been successful just going to a liquid diet when you suspect the abdominal pain you have may be a partial obstruction. I have been trying to cope with ongoing cramping and I don't want to end up in the hospita,l although I am afraid that is where I might end up anyway.  I just had my last Remicade infusion Sat. Sept 1st and this past Wednesday I had a hamburger for dinner and the first cramping started 2 hours later. Do any of you take prescription medicine for flare-ups that help control moderate pain?

I take Percoset for the bad pain. But if you suspect a blockage I would be careful taking meds like that as they can be constipating and could cause more problems for you. Are you able to have a BM or pass gas? If so, you probably don't have an obstruction. But if you can't you are better off heading to the ER. Good Luck!

I have passed a little gas and have had mostly diarrhea. What's weird is the pain is ongoing and to the right of my navel and very tender to touch that area. It is worse after I eat so I put myself on a liquid diet of Ensure and Popsicles, etc. The last time I had a blockage I ended up in the hospital. I couldn't sleep or eat and the pain was worse. I am praying that I don't have to go the the ER but will if it gets worse and doesnt settle down soon. Thanks for your help. Amy

The ensures and popsicles might not help if your having a bad flare. Sugar and all that artificial garbage is not good for us crohnies. Try going on a pureed well cooked veggie, fruit, meat diet. Or buy organic baby food. It's more nutritious and may help with healing.

Hi Roni thanks for the ideas. I will definitely try what you suggested. I don't really have an appetite either which is pretty normal for me with the cramping etc. I can function so for now it is pretty moderate.
