Frak! I feel like my old ford would have had it been alive. Take it to the mechanic, & three other problems come up.
To make a very long story short, I went to a Pain Clinic a few weeks ago during the recent kidneystone storm ( The annual kidneystone storm Arrggg!) when my Uro was on Vacation. Well, this man is GOOD. He spotted the arthritis problems in my knees & feet. He also was very interested in my back knowing I was a CD patient. Well, the MRI results are in. 2 herniated disks (I'm sure one was that old work injury from my Crew Trainer days at Arby's circa 1989..) which I'm actually not that worried about, since I'm not picking up the sciatic pain I usually get. However 3 verterbrae now show evidence of arthritic deterioration. Possible A. Spondylitis???? Ugghh, years since my back was a worry. This is an unwelcome blast from the past.
Not to mention the last and biggest kidneystone was beyond the reach of the 'scope so that is lurking too.

Oh, Matthew. I am so sorry to hear that the MRI turned up additional problems. Is your back giving you any pain? Did the doctor suggest any course of treatment for the arthritis, etc.? I hope they get that kidneystone soon! All my best.

Matthew you seem to have **** for luck. I'm so sorry. I have two herniated discs, so I do know your pain, especially sciatica!!
What are they going to do with your stone?

Crew trainer at Arby's huh....I trained crew at McD's in the old days. Let's make a radical leap and say all back pain is caused by fast food employment and sue the daylights out of them.

Seriously though, I wish you the best. I have had a disk removed and have two others that are basically worthless laying in there---nope no fusion for me yet but it is coming. Please take care of this right away and don't wait for that sciatica to kick in again. That can knock you for a loop as I am sure you know. I had 4 months of not being able to sit or stand.

Take care matthew and I will be thinking of you (especially now that I am picturing you as a truck!)
Dx'd '90 (emergency rupture), symptoms ignored long before that, '03 fistulas and bad flagyl reactions, B12 weekly, Pentasa [until I surrender to the bigger meds]

I'm sorry to hear that. At least you are aware of the problem now. Just trying to find a silver lining...sorry.
36 year old mother of a fabulous toddler.
Diagnosed with Crohn's July 2007. I believe it's in the right side of my colon.
Tapered down off Entocort mid August. Now on Asacol 2400, Protonix 40mg/day.

On Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) since late July and seeing improvement in "output" quality and hopefully therefore absorption. Taking SCD legal supplements: B vitamins, Folonic Acid 800mg, EnZym Complete DPP IV Aid by Kirkman, and Saccaromyces Boulardii (a probiotic yeast).

Current biggest complaints: LRQ fullness and slight burning, gastritis symptoms, horrible right hip and low back pain.

Sorry to hear your news Matthew, it's hard to feel old beyond your years. At least knowing it can be treated. What are they going to do about the stone? Keep us informed and know we are here for you.
Diagnosed 4/07 with Crohn's after hospital stay. Meds: Asacol, Librax, Azathioprine, Prednisone, Prozac, Buspar, and Xanax and percocet PRN.

Aint life a beach ? My doc said my blood pressure is up when I see him. I told him, the reason was all those posters he has up on the walls. Heart disease, erosion of the joints, diabetes etc...All the things I have to look forward too.

So sorry to hear about this development. Ugh!

It makes me curious, though, how many CD people have issues with disks. I had a disk blow out and had a cervical fusion in April '06. One other disk is bulging as well but my surgeon wanted to be conservative. Now this year I am dx'd with CD. Hmmmmm. Part of my current symptoms are lots of arthritic pain in my joints, though not much in my back. Oh, another thing, I worked at Hardee's for 5 years. Maybe there is a fast food connection!!!!

Dx'd CD in August 2007 - 42-yr-old wife and mom
Allergic to Entocort and Prednisone / Not sure what's next
Currently on Protonix, calcium and multi-vit; and Flovent (for asthma)

Well at least I got *THAT* problem under control! No more 155/120 BP readings to send my family doc's nurses into a panic. Finally, a med that works with minimum side effects (Hyzar ).

Rest of the Gang.

Seems I was blaming the big stone for my back pain ( Of course, Ogre is still there to cause future problems. Gad! I'm naming them now. I wish we could've smashed it.). At least most of this years Kidneystone litter is gone. Good riddance! But yes I have near constant back pain, esp. when I stand up for more than a couple of hours. That means at work of course. My paincare doc wants to do the disk injections ( Two for both) under light sedation. Well, if the insurance goes for it. I had that for the Fast Food injury before. But fully aware. Uggh! But it helped big time.

Class action lawsuit maybe? LOL.
Also, got a TEMS (???) unit to use.
