Hi all,

i spoke to my GI yesterday since I saw the RA doc and he wants to try humira for my CD realted arthritis.  I also asked him about those vaccines that the hospital wants me to get since I am on entocort I wanted his opinion.  He said yes to hep B and the tetanus/dyptheria/whooping vaccines.  He said thay are all dead vaccines so they are okay for me to get.

I also informed him my gut/D has not changed since starting the entocort (they are testing me for c diff next just to rule it out since I was on so many ABs with my 3 Sxs this yr).  He said I should start to cut down then and I started the 6mg today as opposed to the 9.  He may have said how long on the 6 before cutting to 3 bbut I forget.

How long does one typically stay on 6 mg before tapering to 3....I have only been on it about 2 weeks this time

I was taking entocort for 6 week and when I decreased it it was every two weeks....9 mg then after 2 week go down to 6mg and then after 2 week to 3 mg etc. that's what my GI said. Now I increased it again because of the pain

I don't have an answer on the Entocort reduction, you might want to call your GI and ask for more clarification on the taper process. But did want to ask, are you taking any Probiotics? Those have helped my diarrhea more than anything. They help to put the good bacteria back into your system. They also help fight C-Diff in case thats what you have.

Yes i have them however I havent taken them since my surgeries, they are in the fridge and I am planning on taking them again. I just have a hard time remembering them since they are not in my "pill bucket" in my room. I need to put them right next to my water bottle in the fridge that I use at night to fill up a smaller bottle

I came across them today actually while I was cleaning out my fridge. I am making homemade meatballs and homemade sauce for dinner. These are the only type of meatballs I will eat, I have tried others at restaurants, frozen etc in the past and they all cause stomach issues with me...it must be some ingredient in them. I use puree and paste for the tomato product therefore there are no seeds or skin in them. I like my sauce thick so I add less water and more paste to it then when I initially learned the recipe. If anyone wants the recipe let me know...the sauce and meatballs freeze well too so I make about 30 meatballs (3 pounds of ground beef...you could probably use ground turkey too just never tried it). mmmmmmmm just thinking about it makes me hungry...takes 3 hours to make which isnt too bad, going to start making it soon

My GI recommended dropping 3 mg every week. So I was off it in 2 weeks.
