I had CT Scan and found a small bowel narrowing and blockage. The doctor put me on Prednisone 60 mg daily for the next 4 weeks then taper off pretty quickly if everything is ok. He said I can still breastfeed my 11 1/2month old. I am concerned about this, has anyone breastfeed on 60 mg pred daily? He said to wait 3 hours after the dose and then feed her. Does that sound right?

Please help.

I have been on 15mg of Prednisone for 5 weeks 3 years ago and when into remission for 2 incredible years. My pregnancy was amazing and until recently had no problems. I have crohns w/c-

Thank you!

Check out this website and see what Dr. Hale has to say about high doses of pred and b/f-ing. I know that the older the baby is (the longer you've been nursing) the less the meds get through to the baby, but I can't remember well enough to explain the science behind it. Three hours sounds right according to Dr. Hale, considering prednisone's half life. These links will help you, I hope!
