Hello I have had crohn's for 34 years. I have had pressure on my bladder for a couple of months now. Get up ever 30 or 40 mins at night. Has anyone experienced this? Doc says no to prostate cancer and I had a INTRAVENOUS PYELOGRAM for bladder cancer (my request)done Friday. Results by mid week. No blood or infection in my urine.

Welcome to Healing Well, ironwarlock! The urge to urinate that much at night sure must be cutting into your shut-eye time! I'm sorry you are having to deal with this. Are you having any other pain or problems besides the bladder pressure? I don't recall your complaint being mentioned here very often. The few times it has been brought up have been in relation to two CD problems - kidney stones and a fistula to the bladder.

If your IVP doesn't show anything, my thinking is the doctor might then want to do a voiding cystogram. A cystogram examines the inside of the bladder and sees if it empties adequately. I had one some years ago because of bladder problems at the time.

Let us know how you are doing and what your IVP results showed. I hope they can get to the bottom of your problem soon so you can get some sleep!

Welcome to HW! I noticed that when I had flares I would get abd pain and urinating helped to relieve it. I suffered from C rather than D for the most part. Since my surgeries I do notice I awaken a lot to urinate at night especially if I feel like I have to have a BM bloat wise and most of the time I wont have a BM until morning . I only have my desending colon and half of my transverse colon so I notice it more when I lay on my right side

Its so weird that when something I experience always comes up on this site.  For the past 6 months I've been having trouble emptying when I urinate.  It goes on, on & on forever.  However, I have not been working outside the house & I thought maybe it was cuz I was drinking so much coffee during the day.  I have a history of kidney stones.  I'm going to the gi in 1 week & going to add that to my list of issues.  Good luck to you.  God Bless!

Thanks for your reply s. Glad to be here. I was thinking it might be a fistula small intestine or something pushing on it. Ya its hell on my sleep time. In all the years I have had mild things happen to me. (mouth on fire, joint and muscle pain, eyes on fire and of coarse hanging out with my Porcelain buddy). This bladder thing takes the cake.

Welcome,
Sorry to hear of your bladder problems, its possible you could have adhesions and strictures around that area causing this. At my worst i'd refrain from drinking any fluid after 5 or 6 in the evening in order to get through the night without having to get up and use the bathroom. After recovery to a certain degree between operations I actually pee'd myself whilst sitting on our brand new lounge suite, I was horrified I was unable to control my bladder, we'd got it fabric protected upon purchase as we had our first grandbaby on the way, I did not think I'd be the one to "Christen" it first . We also had a wet vac and my poor husband was able to clean it up. I was like an old tom cat marking its territory and absoloutley discusted with myself, I have however since my diagnosis and operations messed my pants on numerous occasions, par for the course with this disease and since obtained my medical notes, I've cut myself some slack and understand better the reasons why this happened.
I'm walking funny at the moment too but that's due to a savage goose having a go at my right leg this weekend, if my Doctor could see me I'm sure he'd agree to giving me a disabled car pass.
Anyway I hope they get to the bottom of your bladder problems, and your able to get some decent shut eye.

I had noticed bladder pressure problems for a while.  When I was diagnosed with crohn's they said that because of the massive swelling, it was putting pressure on my bladder.  Then I started having pain when I urinated and it felt like I couldn't let it all out.  I had another CAT scan and it showed that I had a fistula that was beginning to poke through my bladder.  I had surgery about 7 weeks ago and I haven't had bladder problems since then.

Hey,

Ironwarlock ( welcome to HealingWell!) I'm the champion when it comes to UT problems ( both CD & non-CD related).
I had this problem in my Junior year in college. Finally it got so bad I was getting up to pee every 15-20 minutes round the clock. Mine was a stricture of the bladderneck. Surgery was needed to correct it. Also, prostate issues come to mind. I also tend to urinate more when I'm in flare, sometimes because of Interstitial cystitis, sometimes just peri-anal irratation.

Sincerely,
Matthew
