i have crohn's in the terminal ileum. i have not been able to lay on my stomach for months now, it hurts right in the upper center of my abdomen if i do. also, i can't crouch/bend down for very long. and when i stretch, if i put my arms back too far, same thing. it's always that same area that hurts, hardly ever does my right side hurt, i mean, nothing even comparable to the pains i get in my upper center abdomen. it's been exceptionally worse lately. my whole abdomen is so puffed up i feel that if i was poked hard enough my intestines would shoot out like silly string! just want to know if that's normal (what the heck IS normal with this disease!?). i have been pretty good sticking to the low residue foods since my popcorn incident, but it feels like after i eat my food stays high in my gut. almost like i over-ate. i feel like i am going to turn into a giant blueberry like violet in willy wonka and the chocolate factory sad

any input would be sincerely appreciated!

I know just the pain you mean - in the middle upper abdomen. In fact, I just posted a question about it a while back. I also have TI Crohn's and have been told that the mid abdomen thing could be just swelling caused by CD or reflux. I do take Protonix twice a day for reflux and this seems to help that bloating/soarness a bit. Sometimes it's better and sometimes not. Doesn't seem to matter what I eat. Bending down also gives me pain and stretchy feeling in my right lower side (TI area).

I haven't laid on my stomach for years what kind of Bm's are you having ?Hopefully things will work better soon I would look up info on the TI and see what they are saying on that part of the digestive track there are so many different parts in there. lol gail

ohana - i think i may have replied to your post :) that is intersting about the protonix, i see a lot of people on here taking that. i do get heartburn quite often and i take zantac 150 almost daily. but that would be super if it helps with the bloating. this is just very uncomfortable and i can't wear some of my work clothes :P

oh, yes, I can feel it there all the time. I say it feels like I am sleeping on a bag of sand. I practice yoga daily and teach, too, and can twist much farther to the left than the right as my stomach hurts too much.

yoga is wonderful. as I always say, it helps us feel loving to our bodies instead of feeling like our bodies are the enemy. take care.
