Hi again! well...as i told you all the other day, after being on the imuran for 10 days and having some problems, then took a break for 3 days and felt great, and then started it up last night again to see and guess what? i was so...sick running to the bathroom 4 hours after i had taken it (at night instead of the am) and then an hour later i was not only living on the toilet but i ended up on the floor throwing up like you wouldn't believe!! it was not a good night nor a good experience on the imuran. i spoke to my doctors office and they said that i was just one that fell in the category of imuran not working for me. so now i am on the cancellation list to see my specialist and see what the next step is? i am confused, scared, and of course worried now but i will have to take one day at a time and hope for the best!! i want to thank all of you's for your support and i will keep you's updated on the next step once i know myself. i wish all of you's the best on imuran and i am sure glad that it works for those who have had no problems at all! i will continue to read the posts as i always do and hope to be able to give the support that all of you's have given me. speak to you soon!

Hi Laura Lee,
I am new to healingwell, but wanted to let you know that I was on Imuran before my GI put me on Methotrexate. I don't want to scare you but Imuran sent me to ER with pancreatitis. I was one of the 1 in a million people that it happens to. I would say that if you are still feeling bad, go to the ER. You will get help there. My symptoms were really bad back and chest pains. The kind that takes your breath away. It is nothing to mess with. I also had a reaction to Asacol. Wound up in the ER. These meds that they have us take are nothing to mess with. You need to make yourself feel better and if that means that you need to go to the ER so be it.
I hope I didn't scare you too much. My thoughts are with you.
Take care.

Hi laura lee,
sorry you are having problems with Imuran. It sounds like you can't take Imuran. I hope the doctor
finds something else for you to take. Good luck.

Hi, Laura Lee. I had an almost identical experience with Imuran. After about 2 weeks on it I started throwing up everything I ate. I took a week off. When I started back on it, I took a half dose. The vomitting started right back up. My gastro switched me to 6MP, which is a breakdown product of Imuran. It turns out that for me the enzyme that breaks down Imuran is much more efficient at making the active compound, so I was getting a much higher dose than the doctor had anticipated. I've done very well with 6MP. A little nausea in the beginning, but it didn't last long. Some people have luck with 6MP and not Imuran and others are the opposite. I hope you find something that works for you. Take care.
