Hi all,

It helps that my mom is the chief pathologist's secretary.  She called me about an hour ago and informed me that my C diff results from this morning are in and they are negative.  Now it is a wait to see when my pharmacy will get my Humira in.  When I spoke to my GI yesterday he informed me that it is now approved thru my insurance.

When I get my loading doses what do I do?  DO I call the GI office and bring them there with me when I see him in Oct or do I set up a time sooner than that?

Sorry new to humira, I know the remicade drill.  Do any of you premed with benedryl or tylenol before humira injections?

Thanks

Stef

dragonfly,

I would call your gi, and see if you can get in with a nurse for the loading dose instead of waiting until october.

I've been on humira for 6 months now, and usually don't premedicate myself, but i do put an ice pack on the site for about 10 minutes before my husband does the injection.  (Yes, I'm too chicken to do it, and he's my hero!)  Sometimes the injection site gets pretty swollen, and then I will take tylenol and benedryl along with icing it for about a day until it subsides.

BTW- what is the c-diff test?  I never heard of it, and as far as I know, i didn't have it before starting humira

Good luck and Good health! scool

C diff is described in this link below
http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/news/20061012/c-diff-new-threat-from-old-bug

I was on lots of ABs throughout my 2 CD related surgeries this year. That can actually throw off your body creating a breeding ground for C diff. They wanted to make sure my D was not being caused by that since I have had D since my ostomy reversal 3 months ago. I plan on picking up the humira tomorrow and calling the GI office to hopefully set up my loading dose/instructions either for tomorrow (would have 2 b with a nurse my GI has Thursdays off from appts) or see him on Friday. Hopefully with doing this I will know what to expect the following dose and see if it would be better for me to get on a friday night rather than during the week.
