Before I got diagnosed, I went to a surgon to look at my fissures. I have three in 'odd places.' They are quite painful when I use the bathroom. Most of my pain is from my fissures. When I have a flare and am constantly running to the bathroom, it is a nightmare for my ******. So much pain.

I know I cannot get surgery for them. But does anyone know if there is any sort of cream that relieves some of the pain?

I have 2 in odd places too.  That is how my doctor knew I had Crohn's before officially diagnosing me with a Colonoscopy! Unfortunately for me nothing makes them better except sitting in a hot bath tub.  The pain just instantly goes away in the water!  If you find something that works for you please let me know.  After 2 months of this pain I am about ready for a break! =)

I've had a fissure for several years now, which the colorectal doctor hoped would heal but finally gave up on. The only thing he ever gave me that helped was something called "topical diltiazem." It's a salve that serves as a muscle relaxant to prevent your rectal muscles from going into spasm when you use the bathroom. It isn't a pain reliever, but it did seem to make the whole area a little calmer and less painful after a few days of use.

I haven't had any for a couple of years, but I've been thinking about asking for a prescription again (since I occasionally feel as if I'm passing a razorblade). I had to have it specially made up at the only pharmacy in town that will create special-order concoctions by doctor's request. It may be worth your while to ask your doctor to prescribe it for you.

I have had it and it did NOTHING at all for me. I was on flagyl for a while but had to stop it. They tried giving me flagyl in cream form also but that actually made me feel worse because it stung when I applied it. I can't take much more of this pain. Everyday I pass a razorblade and the pain just doesn't go away for a few hours after I have a BM. I am at work right now and the pain is so bad that I am going to go home in a bit and sit in my tub. I can't function like this. If I had the pain when I went to the bathroom and that's it I could deal but this is a pain that doesn't subside and it effects everything I do. I can't sit so I just walk around my conference room for an hour! Something has to give already. I am trying to get approved through my insurance for Remicade but so far nothing! I can't continue like this. I would rather deal with the diarreah 20 times a day and the stomach cramps than deal with this pain!
