Skin infections and Crohns ?? Doctor thinks I have pyoderma gangrenosum r/t Crohns anyone ??

I posted yesterday b/c I have thought I may have MRSA in a wound on my leg. Today I seen an infectious disease MD and he thinks I have pyoderma gangrenosum.  Which is a skin disorder where cuts can turn into ulcers in people with Crohns Disease !!!! I can't believe it,  I have to get a biopsy to be sure and then tx may include steriods (YUCK) ... I never knew this we are even prone to skin problems but sure enough when i researched it its there Anyone else deal with this before..?? If not guess its an FYI to be aware anything that goes wrong and seems so not connected to the Crohns.. It may be..

One of the moderators, Lyn suffers terribly from these. I'm not sure how its treated though, someone will be along with more helpful advise. Your right though about being made aware of how this sodding disease manifests itself, we need to be vigilant of any changes on the surface of our skin.

Yes I do from this and have for many many yrs ............
MIne start out as pimple like putules and go into big I mean huge sores I almost have lost my leg and a finger over this DD
Look up PG in above search engine and it may show my pics if not go to A/P and look in back pages like around page 15 or so ........there is pics there and they are rather groos but I felt they had to be shown .....should be on here as well somewhere although this forum is much busier .........

One thing I do know and have learnt thru experience is NOTHING grows from biopsy and it is not bacterial..........I am however put on antibitics when they get to strting to get bad and the Rocephin will help .IV..........as well as Methotrexate and Folic acid ............

There is a few others that also have this ..YES it is a rare "gift " of the CD but more ppl I find are getting it .........

Trauma to the body such as banging self .......tripping and STREESS does make it worse
So at my times with outbreaks I have to take 4 ativan per day to keep blood from going so quick thru ststem...

It is an autoimmune disorder...........

I am praying this is not what you have...there is Erythonydosum (sp) that can do cause skin problems but not like this from my understanding.........

I have a severe case OF pg as does Curley and I do hope you do not ..............

I HAVE had Dermy's refuse to treat me in Ontario due to fear of lawsuits ect........
Will be going into a med journal with my doc and I with what I have gone thru.

My family Doc has been the only ONE to stand beside me in this and make sure I am not in any pain .............like I did say I had biopsy's and I was told first it was
lichen Planus and so many other DD til I saw the one Top dermy in London,ontario who said it came out of being dormant after I had botched Hysterectomy.............

THE ppl and this site have helped me with every outbreak I have had ..........

I get them on legs fingers arms and now neck and have had 2 on face.........never on trunck of my body ......so far.........

all this new to me don't know how to navigate. have pyoderma gangrenosum-just got diagnosed w2nd case on edge of pg wound 2 years old & still healing. everything done wrong first time-dx spider bite and sent to wound center-cut every week for over 2 months. finally got pg dx--very slow healing and now this. anxiety thru roof now becuz of what i went thru b4.. feel like i'm falling thru cracks of med sys hp 2 find help & encouragement here.. any way to stop the mvmt of emoticans-? hv CFS,FM, and sarcoidosis too. thks
