 I have just been diagnosed with Chrons disease after a year of problems with perianal disease. Because of my age (20) and the agressive nature of my perianal disease, my doctor and I have decided to start using remicade. I was really wanting to know some other peoples experiences with this drug. How long did it take to help and any reactions you may have had. I'm also really interested in how it helped others with perianal disease. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Remicade has helped me a lot the last 2 years. It worked pretty fast for me. Recently it has started to feel like it is wearing off before my next infusion. So because of that my doctor will up the dosage in Oct. I have heard it is suppose to help for perianal disease. I have Crohn's in my small intestines. I didnt have any reactions. They will usually premedicate you , like I take Tylenol and Benadryl beforehand. The infusion is about 2 hours and I have mine done at the hospital outpatient area every 8 weeks on a Saturday morning. I usually feel tired the day of but that's it. I take it also with Imuran which my doctor said works well together with the Remicade. I hope it will work for you too.

Hey Malibu - welcome to Healing Well! I was on Remicade for almost 3 years. The response I had was amazing. My diarrhea ceased and I was able to eat almost everything for the first time in 25 years. My guts went into remission after the 2nd infusion and my joints were vastly improved after the 3rd infusion. Unfortunately, Remicade has ceased to work for my joints. My gut remains in remission. I start Humira this week. Remicade gave me a great couple of years.
