Tomorrow is the big day after trying for 9 months to avoid Remicade.  sad Due to a bowel obstruction and fistula, my doc gave me the choice of Remicade or surgery.  I chose the lesser evil!

Aside from the usual fears, I'm concerned whether I can still get my annual flu shot.   My family doc has asked me to come in for my annual flu shot but I'm a bit hesitant.   Should I go to his office before I start my first infusion?

Do any Remicade users have experience with this?

Thank in advance.  Philly

yes the shots use dead virus. now you shouldn't use the spray they
put in the nose. It has live viris in it.I was on cade when it was shot
time last yr.My Dr. told me to most diffently to get the shot. Hope the cade helps you as much as it did me.
GOD Bless

I, also, have been on remicade (just had my 7th infusion last week) and I get my flu shot each year as scheduled. My GI, who is also my internist, says that it's perfectly safe.

Three years on Remicade and a flu shot every fall. My GI insists that not only should I get the flu shot but so should everyone in my house.

Both my GI & PCP say get the flu shot. It is perfectly safe because the flu shots given now are not a live virus. Susie

Hi, I am on Remicade for over 2 years and I get the flu shot. We are in the high risk category.
My gastro doctor told me to get the flu shot.

I am getting ready to start Remicade. My PCP vaccinated me for pneumonia and tetnus. He wants me to have my flu shot in mid October. He has the view that I need to be as vaccinated as possible due to the fact that Remicade will lower my defenses against viruses.
