I am currently working on getting off of the Prednisone and I have had a time with the gurgling and bubbling in my belly. Lots of noise and I feel like I am starving, constantly. Is this still part of the "flare"??? I don't go for my next appointment till the 9th of October, I would really like to get off of the Prednisone and Imuran.

My current doses.....

15mg Prednisone
100mg Imuran
500mg Sulfasalazine 2 pills 4x daily

I hate medicine!!!!

ngwen,

Prednisone makes ppl. starving :-) ....the most of us eating much more than usual.
I have these bubbles and sounds in my tummy. The tummy is talking to you telling you that it's not having a good time ;-) Could be a part of a flare.
Try to use probiotics. Buy some good ones, and buy yoghurt containing probiotic bacterias like lactobacillus acidophilus, lact. bulgaricus and so on. Try to find sugar reduced yoghurt or yoghurt drinks / cultura drinks with those bacterias.

Have a nice day

Thanks, I forgot about the Probiotics. I was taking Acidopholis for about a month and then I quit, no real reason just have not bought another bottle. I am not a big yogurt eater though. I forgot about the hunger issue with prednisone. I hate it, before I got diagnosed with this I was doing great, bringing my weight down and now have been about 5-10lbs away from my goal since about May. UGH! I try to watch what I eat and exercise but really that is just keeping me from gaining weight. I have been fluctuating in a 5lb circle for a long time. (gain and lose constantly) My stomach sounds really make my kids laugh!!!! I am so glad I can bring humor into there lives. haha!

So, should I expect the sounds and gassy stuff to go away when (and if) I go into remission???
