I posted a few weeks back. I have a bad acne infection and my doctor put me on antibiotics for it. At the time I had 2 pimples that had broken open, were seeping massive puss and were about the size of a pea. Now, I have 5 that are the size of a quarter and are eqally deep into my flesh. I have been put on a stronger antibiotic but I havent noticed any change yet. I am getting a little panicked. They have tripled in size and the pain is excrutiating. I am getting one on my eyelid which scares me too. Its just a pimple right now, but its sore and growing fast.

I know some people have had similar experiences. How bad does it get before the doctors take more drastic action to stop theses "potholes" from growing? I asked if it was a staph infection and he said its just the acne out of control from the imuran Im on. Meaning, it is blocking my bodys ability to fight the infections on its own. He gave me a medicated cream too, but I really dont see any difference. He also took a swab of the pothole. Any advice or any one with a similar expeirnce would be great. I will be back in a few days. Thanks a bunch.

I am going through something very similar to what you are describing in your post.  It started out about 8 months ago as a few painful pimples that I would get on my face, back and chest.  They would be open for a long time and finally scab over but never quite heal completely.  about 2 1/2 weeks ago, I had a tonsillectomy and 2 days after the surgery my body was covered with these painful boils.  Some were really big and deep and all of them leaked a ton of pus once they were popped.  My doctor took a culture of one of the lessions and found out that it was staph infection.  I am on 2 very strong antibiotics and the pimples are starting to finally clear up, but I am still really sick and weak from the infection.  I may have to try I.V. antibiotic treatment if the tests come back that the infection has entered my blood.  As for the medication that has cleared up the pimples I am on omnicef 600mg per day, SMZ/TMP DS 1600 MG a day, and an over the counter ointment called Bacitracin Zinc.  Once I started this medication, the sores began to clear up in a few days.  I have to miss my remicade infusion until I am totally healed.  Make sure that you ask your doctor about staph because with all of the immunosuppressant medications that we crohnies take, staph can really do some major damage.  I cannot believe how sick it has made me and wish that I would have brought it up with my doctors long before the surgury.  Good luck
