fistula is back

Hi all,

Well the other week I saw the colorectal surgeon that was covering for mine while mine was on vacation.  The hole on my belly was 2cm by 2 cm deep.  about 5 days later I was still gettin gpus out but the feces had stopped.  Yesterday I went out to eat with my husband since our anniversary was today.  I had a small amount of salad but I had been having some lettuce and tomato on my sandwiches at work with no problems.  The pain began last night again in the same area as before.  Today I was in severe pain all day even with taking Dilaudid.  After work today I peeked under my bandage and saw feces mixed in again.  When I got home I changed my bandae again and found that the size of the hole is as it was a few days ago (about 1cm inat its widest point and 2 cm deep still).  I notice every time I placed a qtip in it to clear out the pus and poo more oozed into the hole.  I also noticed when I massaged the area that hurtr, gently pressing on my abdomen as if I was milking it more would ooze out also when I would push as if to have a BM or pass gas the same would happen.  My DR isnt on call tonight and the 1 who is would just tell me to go in tomorrow which with my schedule at work this week I cant plus I know my DR was baffled why they didnt do any testing such as a CT scan or MRI to locate the actual loaction.

I am in so much pain I keep saying I want to die when I really dont but this pain is awful I cant even walk upright.

Hi Your not having a so good day hope today is better .It does take some time for the fistula's to heal and the stuff coming out is probably a good thing al least it is draining for now. My pain stopped after it closed but it was not severe pain. Sure hope things improve soon how many Hum. doses have you had so far? Let us know how you make out today. lol gail

I called my colorectal surgeons office today but he was in Sx all day and has not gotten back to me. I will call the office again in the morning. My boss does know about the CD and the complications I have been having and even asked me at the end of last week (she is on vacation this week) how my CD was doing being that I am working again etc. Last week I was doing well. I actually gained about 3 or 4 pounds last week only to have lost 1 or 2 this week. Eating bland again, plain turkey snadwiches, plain roast beef sandwiches with sides of plain white rice. Lots of water, english muffin in the AM and pasta at night. I have been having BMs even with the severe pain and fistula drainage. If My Dr wants me to go in to see him I have no problem leaving work early even if my boss isnt there or changing my schedule around for the following day so I can make the appt on time. They are being flexable with my Dr appts as I am tryingto make them all last appt of the day.

I have only had the 1st loading dose of humira so far I get the 2 shots this Friday, and see my GI and colorectal surgeon next week. Also with me working where I am now I have more leverage when making my test appts (ct, mri etc)

I no longer have TDI money and even having a hard time getting my unemployment approved for those weeks after I was laid off from my old job...they now want another note from the surgeon. Then it goes into deliberation then I get a decision. My husbnad and I cannot make ends meet with me not getting $. Bad enough all month we have been getting food, my scripts, paying bills on the credit card.
