I was wondering if fatigue is a symptom of this disease because of nutrition issues or if it is a symptom in and of its' self? Does that make sense? I know I'm absorbing nutrients from food, and so I'm wondering if my deep fatigue is a symptom of Crohn's Colitis? Any opinions out there? Thanks so much!

Yup, fatigue is part of the package. When I try to explain it to people, I compare it to when you're just starting to get a cold. You feel tired and want to sleep all the time because your immune system is trying to fight off the cold germs. Well, in Crohn's, your immune system is working hard to fight off your guts! Add to that the nutritional deficiencies, the anemia, waking up all night to go to the bathroom, being in pain.... this is why we are tired.

Zazucat.....that is a good way of explaining it to people. I'm sure most people can relate to the day before the come down with the flu or bad cold.....that ache all over, knock you over the head kind of fatigue, that brain fog, headache, all I want to do is sleep kind of feeling.
I'll use the same analogy when people ask me why I'm always so tired.....I mean , it's become my middle name....

tired , old Mary
