I went to Dr. and x-rays were taken for Kidney stones.  about a monty ago.  Well A month has past and I went back to same Dr.  He said there were bone islands in the pelvis/hip region.  This was not authritis He made that clear.  I am scared!  He has ordered a bone scan.  He says the bone is breaking down although there is an oversupply of clacium-  b/c I'm having Kidney stones.  I have shown "bone islands" on CT scans before and it didn't seem to be a big deal b/c they never mentioned it .

One thing about it-  My hips, pelvis, lower back pain is making it very had to stand and walk.

Please let me know what you think.

Were your symptoms simuliar to mine? How did they find out this was what you had? Maybe that's what mine is . What is it? How do they treat it? Do they give you anything for the pain it causes? Does anyone know of a Rheumy in the Atlanta area? I have lots of questions. Are you able to work?
Please answer all my questions if you can.
Thank you

Hi,

Have you been treated with steroids? I know I have to watch more carefully because of my corticosteroid use for the CD since it can damage the bones.

Have your stones that you've passed (if you've passed them and they've been caught) been identified as calcium? My husband has stones which have been of more than one component. His have been mostly made up of uric acid and not calcium. This can be treated with allopurinol.

The scan should give you more answers as to what's going on. I hope you find out what you need.
