hi guys
well after about a year in remission my perianal crohns has begun to act up.
i stopped my remicade treatment after i had a illeum resection in may 2006 and have been great since then
anyways. just over a week ago i woke up with pain in the tush and knew something was wrong since i hadn't had pain in that region since the summer of 2005 when i started remicade.
so i acted quickly. went to the doctor. had an MRI which showed a small collection on the left side.
the only problem was...my pain was clearly on the right side.
i went to the hospital, and was admitted for drainage surgery the next morning, only the next morning the surgeon sent me home saying it wasnt big enough to drain and i would be fine to go on remicade. and since i wasnt having any pain on the left side it wouldnt help anyways.
my doctor was not happy about this.
anyways. two days later i woke up and my right side had swelled up to be twice the size and it was clear something needed to be drained. im the last person to offer to go to the hospital but i called my mom and said. i need to go.
so they did an ultrasound and litterally marked with a felt pen on my bum where the abscess was. and i had emergency surgery that night.
i had a seton put in which is never fun..but the relief from the draining was enough to it all worth it.
anyways now its a week later and im having terrible pain on my left side where they originally said a collection.
i saw my doctor and he said we'll give it a couple days then i'll have an ultrasound on the area on thursday and go from there.
my only worry is that its not "ripe" enough to drain. i want to get this over and done with as quickly as possible but i dont know to to bring the abscess to the surface and much as i can so that they'll drain it.
im taking lots of baths and sitting on a heating pad because i've heard that helps.
anything other suggestions?
i just want to get it drained so i can get back on remicade as quickly as possible and get back to my better self.
my doctor wont put me on until all i have is incisional pain!!
any suggestions would help. thanks so much!!

Wow, I am so sorry you are suffering so much. My only suggestion is the one you are already doing, and that is taking baths as hot as you can stand them. Sorry I'm not much help. Hope you get feeling better soon.

God Bless,

Whenever I read these fistula/abscess storie, I can literally feel your pain! I never heard of an abscess being too small to drain....I have never been told that with mine. Whenever I call with one, my surgeon gets me in asap to drain it! Hang in there!
