The Pneumonia vaccine is suppose to be good for five years.  Yesterday when I got my shot the GI's office gave me a card stating when the vaccine was taken and what the actual viral strain I was vaccinated for.  Stupid me, I was looking to get the heck out of Dodge after the shot and forgot to ask WHY I am to carry this card when I don't for any other vaccine.  Anybody got an answer?  Could it be because I am on Humira/Imuran?

*sigh* I wasn't give a card when "I" got my first pneumonia shot. *sniffle*.

I didn't get one when I got my second pneumonia shot either.

My first one was before I started Imuran. My second one was about 2 years after I started Imuran. And I get my flu shot every year, have since before starting Imuran and since as well.

Hi Broomhilda, sorry I can't answer your question, but I was hoping to ask you or any others a question about the pneumonia vaccine.

I am pretty sure that I read on another thread that somebody said that the pneumonia vaccination helped them w/thier sinuses or chest congestion, but for the life of me,I can not remember what the topic of the thread was to look it up.

Have any of you ever had similar benefits of the vaccination?Because of some of the cardio meds I take,I can not take any decongestants period.I usually have sinus issues every winter & just have to ride it out.Well, this year,my daughter started school & I am really nervous about getting sicker than ever.
I asked the nurse at my PCP's about getting a pneumonia vaccination when I scheduled my flu shot, but she seemed somewhat skeptical.

I just don't want to be miserable all winter :(

Thanks guys....take care!

Mama-

You know what?!  My sinuses have been clear as a bell for the last 3 days since I took my flu & pneumonia shot.  I had attributed it to the Airborne vitamin doses I was taking for my head cold but now you have me wondering.  I CAN BREATHE!  The only time my sinuses even drain prior to the shot is when I lay down to go to sleep.  Weird, huh!  You may just have something there.  That's the first I've heard of it though!  Hope it lasts anyway!
