Does anyone else use the pain and thinks it kills?

I swear the syringe was not near as bad.

Any suggestions as to what everyone else does to prevent it from hurting so bad? My boyfriend does it and I just feel awful for him every time b cause he knows it hurts me so bad. I know it is only 10 seconds long but it always gets me. It is worth it though as it is helping............

Any suggestions are very appreciated.

THANKS!

do you have to stay with the pen? I did my second round of syringes today and I felt literally nothing. I am so sorry and have no advice. hugs, yp

Lovepink,
I bet your boyfriend feels awful each time he injects you knowing how much it hurts you, poor guy :)
I had my loading dose of Humira on Friday and they injected me with syringe. Burning was fierce, next time I'll try an icepack on my thigh first, but I've heard that doesn't really help with the burning. I may also try taking some extra strength Tylenol prior to the injection, that might help too. You said that the Humira is helping you? I haven't noticed any changes in my CD yet. How is it helping you?

Lovepink -
I think letting the pen get to room temp and ice before both help. I also thought the stomach was less painfull then the thigh but recently switched to the thigh because I had shot myself in the stomach so many times it seemed to be getting more irritated. My husband won't even give me the shot because he can't stand the thought of hurting me. I think it gets easier over time. Hang in there!! MB

that's why I wanted to learn to do it myself. I hated the idea of making my husband have to worry about hurting me and it gives me a nice feeling of control. I don't know why I feel nothing from it. I did it in my belly (the only place with any fat to grab) and didn't use ice (the nurse warned against it) and don't even notice a sting. too bad it isn't doing me any good yet!

There have been a lot of different threads on this and IMO it all really depends on your own sensitivity and tolerance.

I have not used the syringe, but the pens are fine...sure they burn, but for a very short time....I do let the pens get to room temp and I ice the injection sites before and right after.

For me the thighs were the least painful shots and other than the immediate burn there was no after  effect.  When I get a shot in the stomach I am sore in the muscles for a day of two.

We all have to find what works for us and then stick with it.
