I was just wondering how many of you have problems with your blood pressure?

I have been one BP meds for 12 years. A three month stint on entocort and prednisone sent my BP skyrocketing even worse and my meds had to be bumped up. Never was able to reduce the dosages - seems the steroids permanently messed up my BP.

High blood pressure runs in my family. My paternal grandfather died in 1959 from a stroke. My dad has been on bp meds since he was 43. I started BP meds when I was 43, as did one of my brothers. THe second one is borderline as is my sister.

Crohn's on the other hand - no one has that but me.

Yep high blood pressure for me too. I have been on meds for about 10 years now. In fact, they recently added another med to my list. I like IDES have had to stay on the higher dose because of Pred too.

My blood pressure is usually very very low. I am on prednisone right now, and it is actually relatively normal. Go figure!

Most of the time my bp is too low, unless I am in severe pain. Then it is through the roof

So would you think that a low dose of pred all the time would cause your blood pressure to stay high? The reason i ask i've been on bp meds for a year or more now and i'm on a low dose of pred all the time. I ran out of bp meds and within in 3 days my bp was back up 159/100

Your kidneys play a huge part in regulating your BP and prednisone is notorious for affecting your kidneys, which may have something to do with it. I had high blood pressure while on Prednisone also, for the first time in my life, and never thought about the medication being the culprit. It's still bouncing up and down on me too and it's been 2 months now since I've been off the roids. Hmm, one more reason to hate that drug.

Mine runs low most of the time. My GI's office has an automated cuff that always shows me a bit high. I told them it seems to be off since my BP isn't high anywhere else and usually runs low, and the nurse looked at me like, "sure, right...". Mine runs around 100/60 at home.

Mine is usually normal. Sometimes high when in pain like so many others. My normal BP is 120/80.

Mine has been higher since pred, but I also gained 30 lbs. Mine has been around 150/90 on pred and entocort, and went down to 130's off pred and only lost 5 lbs. My heart rate was also higher, in the 100 range on pred, went to 60's off. My doc has held off on bp meds, just monitoring it, because she knows that steroids are causing it.

I am on one bp med. I used to be on 2 at larger doses, searching for a third with no luck. Once I had food sensitivity testing done and eliminated gluten, casein, corn syrup, and egg protein from my diet my bp normalized. I take 80 mg diovan now because of diabetes and "just in case". I stll get a little high with stress. They are recommending either an ACE Inhibitor (zestril) or an ARB (diovan) for all diabetics, regardless of whether or not they have hypertension. Supposed to be good for kidneys.

I'm on bp meds also. Just lost a lot of weight so got dosage reduced because it was getting to low. It's under control but is ALWAYS high when I go to the doctor. White-coat syndrome I guess...I told them it was their fault because it's normal at home. LOL

I've just been put on a bp meds. My pressure was running at 169/103 and the like. I don't take prednisone, but there are so many things I can't eat with my CD that I end up eating things that will contribute to higher cholesterol etc. All the good bp reducing things like veggies, fruit, oats, aggravate my CD so I end up eating a lot of pasta and breads, mashed potatoes etc.
I have to use a scooter now ( due to MS) and so have gained a lot of weight in the last 4 years. I used to walk 3 mile everyday. Needless to say , without the walking, I've become a fatty....with high blood cholesterol and high blood pressure. Things just seem to go from bad to worst.
