Hi all...they are talking remicade for my son...since his Chrons has been really flaring and he might have fistula. He has already been on all the other meds...nothing really working great. Been doing homework on Remicade and the Lyphoma link REALLY scares me. seems like some people get Lyphoma after useing Remicade for only a short period...and it is a virulent kind of cancer. I know they says the percentage might be small but the risk is still there ,this drug is fairly new so they are still finding side effects...... Has anyone refused to use Remicade.....are there any other choices for severe Chrohns? Thanks Deese

Do NOT look @ everything online, TRUST ME!! The worst things will come up first. That is the thing about these drugs. The risk is very small and they have to say that. Honestly, ALL drugs have side-effects both minor and not so minor.

I am on HUMIRA and am 70% better for the first time ever (7 years) and no side effects yet. You just never know. Quality of Life and taking care of myself is what I am doing.

Humira is basically a cousin of REMICADE (but no rat)

Hi Deese, I have been on Remicade for over 2 years and have no-side effects. I am in remission
it out ways the side effects I now its mouse protien. As lovepink says there is Humira which
is not made from mouse protien. I would think about both these drugs and decide which would help your son.

Deese,

I tried Remicade, although it didn't agree with me, I have to tell you that was the best I had felt in a year!  I remember telling my mom about the side effects, she didn't think I should take it, but I'm glad that I did.

i'm not an ideal canadidate for it, due to allergy. so in order for me to postpone surgery as well, i've decided to try the maker's diet and probiotics. it's a much healthier choice and it seems to work for a lot of pple.
