i have 2 fissures, one really deep and long. im in a lof of pain from them. im taking rowasa enemas and using proctofoam and have been on it for about 5 days now. has anyone used these and how long until you see some relief? im not sure what to do about the bleeding, does it take a long time to heal them? especially with D? they split open constantly, when i sit or go up stairs. im not straining or anything and im not eating anything fibrious so im wondering if theres anything else i can do. also, how in the world do these not get infected what with goes on down there? oh yeah im also using proctosol cream on the outside.

its bad enough that i have to wear a pad becasue i bleed in between BM's. sometimes i get the feeling like i have to use the bathroom but all that happens is blood comes out. has this happened to anyone?

i just had a cscope and it showed only mild CD inflammation and my GI does not think the beleeding is coming from anywhere else. my colo-rectal guy is the one treating me for the fissures.

just any info anyone has on all this would be helpful, anything at all.

thanks very much

I completely know how you feel. I have 2 of them as well and one is cut open all the way down to the muscle.  It feels like Razor blades every time you go.  Did your doctor ever try flagyl or cipro?  I tried flagyl first and it worked great within a month I would say that they were 75% better.  I developed a neuropathy after that month and had to stop.  They got as bad as I have ever felt them during the 2 months after I stopped the flagyl.  Recently I got my doctor to prescribe Cipro as a try to see if it would help and I am doing better than I ever was on the Flagyl.  Within a week I had my first BM with very little, if any pain!  It's so hard to cope with anything when you are in that much pain so anything is worth a try.  I Hope you feel better soon!

thanks decrapster,

i havent had flagyl or cipro yet but i think that may be the next move. im doing the enemas and proctofoam for 2 more weeks then i see the colo rectal guy. honeslty i havent seen any improvement yet and its been a week. but maybe im being impatient, ill try to be more patient :)

ill definitley discuss those meds with him cause its really killing me.

thanks again
