Howdy all! It's been awhile since I've been around, sorry I haven't stopped by in quite a while.  I have a question though, I've had CD since 2004.  I went into "medical remission" mid year 2006. Everything has been going alright, med free for now, the occasional flare up from time to time and just the usual stuff you get used to when it comes to BM and diet as a CDer. Something really messed up happened as of June of this year, I got an abnormal pap. They did a biopsy and it came back Severe Displaysia (SP?). I just had my appointment for my LEEP last week and while she was preparing me for the procedure the doctor couldn't find the opening to my cervix due to the rapid growth of the abnormal cells. Now... it wasn't caused by HPV or any kind of STD, seeing as I've never had any or have any signs or test results or anything of any of that. My question is have any of you noticed anything similiar? Abnormal paps? Increased cervical cancer risks? Or does my 23 year old body just really REALLY hate me? Thanks :)

I was having abnormal paps for quite a while but we (my GI and I) thought it was because of recto/vaginal fistulas. Of course my GYN was clueless and I had many painful LEEP's. After my ostomy to heal the fistulas I didn't have any more problems. I had a total hysterectomy about 5 years after that, so couldn't tell you long term. Let us know what your doctors say.

Six resection surgeries, permanent ostomy, adverse reactions to Remicadeback on 6MP for maintenance, hoping for a long remission from this last surgery.

I had a question, I am new to the GYN world. What is a LEEP? Anyhow, I hope that everything is okay with you. Take care.
