Went to GI doc on tues.  I stay on 20mg prednisone for at least 2 more weeks because my pain is coming back.  As we go along we'll increase the Imuran, right now I'm on 50mg day.  The inflamation level in my blood work has gone down more, that is a good thing.  He told me to get a flu shot because of my immune system going down from the Imuran.  Surgery for me is such a "we don't wanna go there thing" I just hope we can hang on with meds.  There is so much of my small bowell involved that it would not be good, he says.  So,,, in two weeks I am to call him and we'll decide if the pred comes on down,  in a month I see him again and we'll go ????? somewhere from there.  Like I said, the pain is coming back, but not so severe.  He said to watch for swelling in the feet and legs,  why is this????  See ya all,   Granna
Oh yea,  I've gained 5 more lbs!!!!  Only prob is, it's all in the belly,  I look like a fat chicken, I hate that look!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear that your inflammation levels are lower! The prednisone can cause the weight gain, swelling, etc. I refuse to take it anymore for that reason. I can't both feel bad on the inside, and look like a overstretched water balloon on the outside as well. When I was on it, people constantly asked me if I had just come from the dentist (I had "moon face" so horrible") and close friends kept asking what was wrong with me. So, I opted that it's no longer allowed in my treatment.

The doctor is probably wanting you to check your feet & legs for swelling and water retention, but there can be other reasons as well.

I hope your body will calm down to the prednisone and you can go back to looking like your fabulous self! :-) I'll keep you in my thoughts & prayers that the medicine will work for you, and that you will not have to face surgery.

Best wishes,
