Hi Everyone,
I madeit to Siagon without too much problems along the way only had to get the bus to stop twice for me and wore a sanitary napkin for safety. However I am still suffering with severe D from this bacterial infection and just finished the anti biotics this morning. Went to the markets with my sister this morning and almost passed out it has been around 7 days of D and some vomiting but not a lot. I am drinking heaps of fluids and apparently imodium wont help the D cause its an infection, (so the doc says) mind u i really dont think its the crohns but its not helping since all this D has brought on some bleeding. I will be going back to Australia next week (23rd) but right now all im seeing of Saigon is my 4 walls in my hotel room and the occasional attempt to go for a strolldown the road. I am soooooo sick of being sick and broke down today. I dont want to go home yet as we are heading to Bangkok on monday for our last leg of the holiday and we are going to ride elephants and visit the tiger temple which i am so looking forward to, apparently we can go in with the big cats. Anyway thanks again for listening and being there idont know what i would do with out u all. Take care

I was just thinking about you and wondering if you were well! I'm sorry you're still sick but I wish you continued recovery so that you can enjoy at least the remainder of your trip.

I have been thinking about you and praying for you as well. I am so glad you made it. When the bus stopped for you did you have a bathroom or the side of the road? Did your driver speak English? You give me hope that if the worst happens on my trip, I will be ok.

Andorable are you taking any probiotics with your antibiotics. You really should be taking the probiotics 2 hours after each antibiotic. I got alot of help with the D when I started taking probiotics. Just a thought.

Xifaxan was designed for travelers disease and also works well with IBD. If you can get your hands on some, I'd take that.

Retired male in late 60's. Perforated Colon in 92. Diagnosed as Ulcerative Colitis in 93. Uncontrolled flareup in 97 dictated J-pouch surgery. 04 Capsule endoscopy diagnosed as Crohns not UC. Emergency surgery in 05 to remove lodged camera capsule. Biopsies positively diagnosed Crohns at that time. 12/06 Unsucessfully tried Naltrexone(LDN). 2/07 developed scleritis of the eye, tearing and detaching the retina. Treated with high doses of Prednisone. 6/07 Eye is healing and currently taking Entocort counting on the residual (non-systemic portion) treating the eye. In October if eye is stabilized, will need cataract removal (obviously old steroid associated). Then surgey to the back of the eye to remove scare tissue caused by the detachment.  11/07 Started Remicade to try and reduce the ocular inflamation of the Scleritis since I have been requiring more and more Prednisone to keep the eye quiet.
Married with 4 grandkids.

Thats just about typical,,when we try to have a good vacation in an exotic location it turns out to be bad for our health. Last time I was there I ran into a few bugs myself, but they were leaches. Rice patties are so much fun to slosh through. I did get to see a tiger though,up close, and yes there was no cage. I almost had a bowel problem right then and there . I also was very watchfull of my surroundings, you know, trip wires, booby traps, ambushes, stuff like that. Good thing for me we had a medic close at hand. I hope the locals are more friendly for you though, they did not like me much, but the guys from down under were a great bunch and made up for the locals. I did not get to ride a elephant, but there were plenty of water buffalo. Lucky for me, I got to visit for a few years and not just weeks. Plenty of time to take in all the sites and sounds and pick up souvenirs. Still have a few the doctors could not remove.
Hope you feel better soon and get to ride the elephant...I hear they run on peanuts..
If we would read the secret history of our enemies,we would find in each mans life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.
