I got home from my 5th stay in the hospital about 1 week ago now. I have been on TPN for 2 weeks and will at least be on it 2 more. My Doc said I can cheat and have some food on thanksgiving. It will be a bland meal but its better than broth!
I cant stand how this fistula drains like crazy one day and stops the next then picks up again in a day or 2. The picc line is uncomfortable too had to have an ultrasound today on my picc line arm since I am having tenderness in my armpit and the nurse was concerned about a clot. I dont know the results of the US but hopefully will soon. It is hard I havent been on tpn at home in 20 years and I have no energy whatsoever. I was 8 last time I was on TPN at home and I have to say they have made improvements, NO IV POLE !!! it is all in a backpack which since we moved to my papa's is a pain since I have to go down to the main level for a bathroom (12 stairs) which doesnt seem like much but when you are clenching your butt to make it it is a feat nevermind 3 times today I had to use the basement bathroom (an additional 12 stairs) down isnt bad its back up that winds me.
Have many of you been on TPN to help heal fistulas? How long did it take to help heal the fistula?
The GI is increasing my dosage on Humira but it has been an ongoing battle with my health insurance for over a week now on that.
Sorry I havent been on lately been feeling crummy, and had to euthanize one of my cats last weekend she was only 6 but with the move and me in the hospital she stopped eating and cats wont eat when hungry like dogs she basically starved herself and cause hepatic liver disease when petting her you could feel all her spine and she was extremely jaundiced I felt horrible I didnt notice the signs sooner being that I use to work for a Vet but I did go into the hospital a few days after moving in here. Plus they let me go at work...yes I was hospitalized in the hospital I worked for and they let me go for missing work even with doctors notes. Therefore I really didnt have the funds to try to save her but her blood levels and bilirubin were so high and only 35 % of cats with the disease live I didnt want to put her through tube feedings, IV fluids etc she was always grumpy at the vet but this time she purred through it all. We burried her next to my late nana's rose bush.
