I have been pretty stable with my 5 diarrheas a day.  My friend gave me a mint the other night and ofcourse I ended up having 6 of them.  Think they were mentos but sugar free.  The next day there was a war brewing in my intestines loud rushing noises and later that night all hell broke loose for about 2 hours almost like an enema prep for colonoscopy.  Exhaused and drained I went to bed.  Woke up this morning and back to my 5 d's a day.  Come to the conclusion it was the additive as this has happened before with Propel drinks and diet chocolate.  Is this a crohn's thing??

When I'm having symptoms I can't drink Diet Coke without having violent D and cramping. Because I'm stupid and have no will power, now that I'm feeling better, I've started drinking Diet Coke again, even though I vowed I'd never touch it again last time I was sick!

You have to be very careful with ingesting any refined sugar (causes bacterial over-growth) and any artificial sweetners as well, stay away from sugar alchohols (anything ending in "tol", sorbitol, xylitol, ect) as these can really exacerbate symtpoms.

I use honey and stevia and avoid anything processed so it's easy for me to avoid that junk, especially processed sugar.

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

Years ago I witched I was a coke cola to diet coke I started getting sever headachs and that would not let up 23-7 I finally went to the doctor and he asked me if I have changed any thing food wise and I told him year I had switched to diest coke and he told me to get off of them for a week and see if my headachs went away they did.So any typ of artifcial sweetners I can not handle.I got off of cokes all to gether because they just don't set well with my gut and I drinkl unsweeten tea because in the last two years I have not been able to tolerate regular sugar. So you are not alone.

Actually, sugar alcohols are notoriously difficult for a lot of people to digest and are thus generally considered a no-no when it comes to anyone with gut problems.  Even a stick of sugar-free gum can cause problems.  The science behind it is pretty interesting but is a lot like being lactose intolerant.  I wrote a post on this as I was learning it a few months ago, I'll try to dredge it up...
