Hello, I have been having a flare for 2 months now. My dr started me out on 40mg predisone and 50 of aziothioprine. That was working so he started to taper me on the steroids. I got down to 10 mg of predisone and then started having the pain again. He says i have 3 different spots that are almost closed and they are in different areas. Yesterday he increased the aziothioprine to 100mg and 20  of predisone. Does anyone else have dizziness and nausea with this medicine or do i just need to adjust to it. It seems to be helping. He says if not better in 3 weeks will have to go back on the remicade. I also have fibro which causes me a lot of pain as well . I was taking tramadol 300 mg and  propoxy apap 4 times a day.  I took cyclobenzaprine 10 mg at night for fibro. I didn't want to resort to anything that might be addictive in the long run but am in more pain and unbearable to my family. He had me try oxycodone with acetomeniphen today 325mg 3 times a day and get rid of the others. It seems to be a godsent so far. Does anyone else take  oxycodone  and has it helped?

I had bad vertigo on both Aziothroprine and 6mp. Be careful you don't injure yourself.

Percocet (oxycodone), is the only way i get through the day. I have major attacks out of nowhere throughout the day and the doc doesn't know why. I'm having a repeat colonoscopy on Monday to compare to one I had a few months back. I've had a barrage of tests and my inflammation has apparently gone down but my GI doesn't know why I'm still having such debilitating break-through pain several times a day. Anyway, oxycodone is my lifeline. If I didn't have it, there'd be no way I could do anything. Good luck!
Pentasa 500mg/8x daily; Entocort 3mg/3x daily; Percocet/Ultram for pain; Protonix 40mg
Neurontin, 300mg/6x daily
Bentyl for cramping-3x/10mg
Ferrous Sulfate 325mg/daily for anemia
Azathioprine 150mg

I take oxycodone every day. Life would be too difficult without it - it keeps me going. I take it for arthritis and back pain that has persisted for years. (I've had 2 surgeries) I take aziothioprine 100 mgs. with no side effects. It is the drug that has sent me into remission.

Undiagnosed symptoms for many years. Dx w/ Crohn's in 12/06. Sm. Bowel resection (60cm.) 1/07
current meds: Imuran, pred., pentasa, kristalose, probiotics, omega 3, temazipam, oxycodone for continuing pain

I take the azith.... (Imuran) 3x day (150 mg). The side effects that I do have are the nausea and the fatigue although the nausea eventually has been confined to the first 30-45 min after I take the med. The fatigue is there but I just have gotten used to it since you already have fatigue with the crohn's.

I don't take the oxycodone...

good luck! hopefully they will find the right mix of meds for you soon

Hi, I am taking Imuran. Make sure before taking your meds that you eat something never take on an empty stomach. This should help.

Oxycodone is good for pain but can be addictive if your on it for too long, as well it can cause constipation which is nice if you get D a lot.
I was on Oxy for about a week, it helped but I was told not to take it often.

In terms of the Aziotho.. (Imuran) it can make you dizzy, it happened to me for the first 2 weeks and then I started taking it at night, it heloed big time.
It took about a week for the tiredness and dizzyness to go away when I took it at night, so that might be an option for you.

As for the predisone, that's anothe story, i'm on that as well with the Imuran and it's giving me a lot of issues, I started off with that and i'm coming off it now. It can cause dizzyness/anxiety so it's tough. It helps the symptoms of stomach pain for sure as you may know, but isn't a fun drug to be on. Hang in there, there's times that are tough but you'll pull thru, we all do :)
Male DX with CD May 2006 @ age 22, Colonoscopy and SBT
Taking Prednisone 17.5mg (tapering), Imuran 75mg (eventually 150mg I was told), Atenolol 25mg for fast heartbeat and Restoril 30mg for the sleepless nights (thanks Pred!)
