So I got an allergic reaction to something last night, my lips blew up so I took a couple of benadryl. Next thing I know my throat is closing and I can't breathe and I'm heading to the ER. Because this was an emergency I had to go to the crap hospital by my house. What a nightmare. We waited about 10 minutes to find some one who actually worked in the ER. I'm standing there gasping for air and vomiting. Finally the triage nurse takes me in and then I wait another 15 -20 min. for a doctor to come with an epi pen and start me on a nebulizer. The triage nurse was telling me to stop coughing and I'm fine since I took a couple of benadryl before I came to the er. I looked like Will Smith in Hitch. I have no idea what caused it. I don't have any known food allergies and I get tested every couple of years. I saw my internist today and now he has me on zyrtec twice a day, plus singulair and benadryl. He also gave me a couple of epi pens. At least I had an appointment already scheduled this week with my allergist.

How scary!! When you are anaphalactic you need to call an ambulance. They can do more for you and get you in quicker. Please don't risk getting yourself to the hospital.

Hi Gee sounds like you had quite a time of it how are you doing now ? Has the swelling gone down ? Glad your DR. gave you some pens. Make a list of every thing you ate or anything new you might have come in contact with just in case something clicks in . Hope you find out what it is, glad you had some benadryl on hand it can come in handy at times. Best Wishes. lol gail
