I started on Asacol this week and today I have awful pain in my heel/calf/back of my leg and lower back. It feels terrible and the skin on the back of my leg is hypersensitive. I don't see a rash, but am wondering if this is the Asacol. It did exacerbate my asthma just a bit and make my eyes a bit blurrier than they were from the CD already. I was hoping that I could work through those side effects but this leg pain is terrible. I feel like I have a blood clot!! Has anyone had this and has it gone away with time?
Dx'd CD in August 2007 - 42-yr-old wife and mom
Allergic to Entocort and Prednisone / Not sure what's next
Currently on Aciphex, probiotic, calcium and multi-vit; and Flovent (for asthma)

Hi Ohana,
I would call your doctor asap or go to the ER. Especially if you have a blood clot.

I have been on Asacol for a few years now and have never had any side effects.  I think you need to contact your GI and discuss these side effects with him.  Many have different allergies to different meds.  Good Luck!

Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.
