Hi all,
I've tried Humira (lost tolerance and responsiveness to Remicade) and found that the every other week shots don't help.  Is anyone on here taking Humira weekly?

Actually so was I. But, that was right as the FDA approved it and then my insurance would only cover the bi-weekly shots...  Specifically, I am wondering if others have gotten approval from insurance to cover the weekly shots.

I was in the study as well and took humira weekly at that time. My insurance would only cover bi-weekly, and my doctor and I have been talking about taking me off the humira now anyway to see what happens, so I switched to bi-weekly. No trouble so far with the bi-weekly, so I didn't have to fight the "ruling" from insurance. You might have some success arguing weekly if you contest their denial.

Shari - I take Humira every 10 days.  My insurance agreed to cover that with no problems.  I have Medco, if that makes a difference.

I would think your insurance would approve it if the doctor can prove that you aren't responding to the bi-weekly shots. It usually just takes paperwork.

I take Humira once a week.  My insurance never expressed a problem.  We have federal BC/BS.  I did the loading doses and noticed a big difference, but when I went to every other Friday it was miserable.  Once a week is better.  I take another shot tomorrow.

I was taking my humira every other week but it just was not helping so alst month my GI and Rhuemy decided that I would be better off if I took it every week.My Insurance agreed to pay for it.So I did not have any problems with them thank god.

I take two shots every other week.  I have seen very little change other than I am doing a better job absorbing the nutrients in my blood tests are all now in the low but normal range for the first time in over 2 years and i have stopped losing weight.  Other than that I still have several bad days a week.

but since the cost is only $50 for 90 days (12 pens) I figure the small gain is worth it.

I've been on various doses of Humira over the past 3 years. I've been on weekly for about 2 of those 3 years. Sometimes I go up to 80 mg every other week if I'm having symptoms. But it's been a while since I did that.
