I am brand new to this sight.  Both of my children have cystic fibrosis.  I work full time and go to school full time.  I need advice on how to answer those hard questions like; "why did God give me and my brother cf?" and ; "am I going to die?"  confused

My children have been in excellent health and have not been hospitalized in two years!!!  I am crossing my fingers!  I am divorced from their father who has no contact with them.  So, I deal with all these questions on my own.  I ask the advice of professionals, friends, family, and anyone who will listen.  Though I appreciate their advice, I feel that they are not dealing with it in everyday life, and I am hoping to have contact with people who do.  I feel that the more time that goes by, the harder it is for all involved to deal with this.  There was a support group that met a few times a year shortly after my daughter was born.  But they do not meet anymore.  I found it helpful to talk to those who do deal with this everyday.  I would love to hear from anyone who would like to communicate!!!

Thank you!

testing 123 testing. Everytime I post I get an error.....

4th attempt. Sorry

HI! 24 with CF. I asked my mom the same questions and I still sometimes ask myself the questions.

To the question "Why did God do this?" The answer my family and friends have always given me is this: "God never gives more than he believes you can handle. He believes you are a strong person and this will make you stronger. He has shown you pain, and hardship, so that you will have compassion to those that are also in pain, and so that you will understand the struggles of life. Even if you don't believe in yourself sometimes, he always will, and you will always come out on top at the end."

To the question "Am I going to Die?" The sarcastic side of my family gave me this answer, "Yes, eventually everyone dies."
Will CF eventually kill them, yes, but they could go to school tomorrow and not come home again. Unfortuantely that is the world we live in. I know you can't say that to a child, but there is no easy answer to that question except, "Yes, eventually everyone dies."

Luckily, they are coming out with new things to help prolong our lives, so more and more are living longer and longer. It will be hard, and more and more questions will come. But as they grow older they will start to seek out their own answers. Just love them, and be there for them.

I hope it helps a little. :-)
