Hi everyone,

My name is Shannon and I have a 3 and a half old son who is constantly sick, has had bronchitas twice and phenomonia once in the last 2 months has ear infections consecutively, hes sick all the time, his ear doctor suggested for the sweat test to be done, and the result was 49 meaning he is high borderline for cf. then they repeated it and it was insufficient and now they are doing another test tomorrow. My question is: What are the chances that he isn't cf or are the chances greater that he does have cf. Can any one try to answer my question, Any advice would be greatly appreciated !

I think the definitive test is the one where they swab the inside of the mouth and do the gene test. If he does have CF it will be good to know so you can start appropriate treatment and hopefully improve the quality of his life and perhaps prolong it.
If not- there are numerous other diseases out there that could be causeing him to be sick all the time including allergies to everything from pet dander to gluten. Best of luck to you and good luck in finding a treatable diagnosis.

ok I received his secondsweat chloride test results today and it was 48, still borderline and now they want to send him to a CF clinic for further evaluation. Should I be worried and what should I exspect from the CF clinic? Also has any of you had a 48 and 49 result and have been found to have CF?
