My boyfriend (age 24) has Cystic Fibrosis. Does his therapy and nebulizers everyday, twice a day!
And tonight, just our luck on a Friday night he sits down to start therapy and realizes the nebulizer compressor is not pumping, nothing is pushing mist out of the nebulizer. We Checked the machine, can't figure it out! Its cold out and it smells like a giant campfire because of all the people using their fireplaces throughout the neighborhood. He is having tight chest pains and trouble breathing due to the smoke entering our apartment through the cracks of the door. We do not have a way to get another machine until Monday, called the company for the machine replacement but automatic message says office only open Mon-Fri. How unfortunate! He is so upset and we are so stressed out, what can we do? There has to be another way to get a new compressor or atleast have a back up plan in case crap like this happens?!?! I am feeling useless him!! smhair smhair

Absolutely go to the ER! They can give him a good treatment, and perhaps arrange a loaner until morning. I agree that keeping an extra nebulizer on hand is a good idea, if you can swing this.

Boyfriend had to do the therapy without the nebulizers last night. Although the website said closed weekends, Somehow he was able to get in contact with the company last night and they let him get a replacement early this morning. Thank God ! He is feeling a little better today.
We will definitely have to find a door draft guard/stopper of some sort to block out all the smoky fireplace air from seeping into the apartment =/
Thanks for the replies !! <3
