I do know it's very difficult to qualify for the US armed forces if you have any sort of chronic condition. They even kick out people with IBD. From their point of view, they invest a lot in training new recruits, and if someone gets ill and has to leave that money has been wasted. As much as possible they try to avoid that. Even in wartime, my father was rejected because he had a chronic mastoiditis, and others have been refused because of severely flat feet.
Commercial airlines also employ aircraft mechanics; that could be an alternative for you if you can't join the Navy.
