Missy,

Happy Belated Birthday! Hope your day went well.

Regarding how you feel with having children, I can't help you because I have boys that will never be able to bear children, but, I do hope that you listen to your heart here when thinking about having children. What do you think is the best situation. Only YOU know your condition at this time.

Heartfelt hugs to you.

Hi Missy

Let me tell you something. You can have a long life ahead of you. In Sept. I will turn 43

all you have to do is take care of yourself and do everything those doctors tell you.

Make sure you try to eat even if you don't want to. I eat probably 4 to 5 times a day, it doesn't have to be a full meal everytime but you have to keep nurished.

And to Kathy, not every male is sterile. I have a healthy 16 year old son. I also know alot of women who have healthy children. All you have to do is talk to your doctors when you plan to start a family.

Keep your spirits up Missy life is to special to worry. tongue

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WITH MANY MORE TO COME

Hi Robertson,

I just read your opening post about yourself and noticed that you have CF and did have children?  Is this true, they are your very own?  The doctors have told me that my twins (who have CF) will be sterile.

All I can say is:  WOW! and I better be a extra cautious parent when my boys hormones kick in.... tongue

Hi Missy

Hey how's it going. Personally I think you should just plan your life how you want to live it. The only deadlines you have, are what you create in your mind. I believe power of suggestion is a POWERFUL tool, thoughts are things, and so think the way you want to live your life, not the way people say you should.

I had a sister who passed of CF, and that was a couple years ago, knowing what I know now, I wish I could have told her this same thing, that i'm telling you.

take care

-angela

Twinstride - not sure if your boy's doctor told you this, but not all male CFers are sterile. 95-98% of male CFers are sterile, but 2-5% can have children naturally. I know it is a small percentage, but it does happen. Men with CF can also have children by a procedure called IVF. This is where they take sperm from the male and insert it into the females eggs. I belong to another CF forum, and there are a few men on there who have had children naturally (these men have CF). There are also a few men on there as well who have had kids through IVF. So its not all hopeless. Maybe your boys will belong to that 2-5%.
