Is it possible for a child to test negative on a sweat test but have CF?  My sisters granddaughter exhibits many of the symptoms but had the sweat test done when she was a toddler with negative results.  My neice is now 6 and still has problems.  They have been unable to determine what is causing her problems of failure to thrive, abnormal stools, etc. so my sister ask me if the test could have been wrong.  I don't know but since both of my kids did/do have CF, I thought I should see if anyone else knows.  Thanks

Hi

I would get a second opinion definately. Just to be sure, trust your gut, because if she is still experiencing problems, then they could have overlooked something serious. (it's happened before).

Good luck!

Hi Kristins Mom,

I agree with Angela, definately a second opinion.

Also, to mention...I knew of someone whom her baby was testing positive for all the symptoms of CF and a negative test. The mom started having her baby tested for other diagnosis. I never did hear what the outcome of it was for her baby, so, I can't help out there. But most definately, seek more info.
