I'm not sure how big the vest machines are, as we don't get them over here. But I managed to get away with having my nebuliser as hand luggage 4 years ago when I flew from UK to US.
They let me have more hand luggage than usual because of all meds and neb. That way I could keep an eye on everything and knew nothing would go missing. It had been organised with the airline in advance so there was a note on my ticket.
Hope this helps in some way. I'm not sure how bad security and stuff in, and whether it's loosened since last i heard about

Medication: Creon 10,000, Flucloxacillin, Vitamins A,D+E, Tobi nebuliser, Serevent, Salbutamol, Sertraline, Odansetron, Nefopam, Ciprofloxacin, Ursodeoxycholic Acid, Omeprazole.
