Hello all.  A few days ago my therapist, who is also a prescribing APRN, told me that she wanted me to begin taking deplin.  This is a medical food prescription and she has stated that there are many vitamins and high doses of folic acid.  Without the folic acid my body is supposedly not responding well to my current three meds (Cymbalta, 60mgs; Lamictal, 150mgs; and Trazadone 100mg).  And by taking this it will enable me to function better and give the Cymbalta and supporting SSRI drugs a boost.
My diet has been and is currently awful. You name it and I have ate it.  AT this point it doesn't even have to be good...I'm just going through the motions.  I have been extremely stressed out with trying to make mortagage payments, car payments and you name it.  I am so scared about becoming another casualty of the foreclosure pheomenon going on right now........  She knows that I am truly not dealing well with all of this......Has anyone tried this?  Do you think it will work?
Also, this is the fourth prescription that I am on now.  This is making me feel so hopeless.  I have been struggling to focus and get myself through grad. school while taking care of my 2 girls.  Is it common/uncommon to be on so many things at once?

Hi Cassandra,

I went through about seven different medications before I found what worked for me, so don't get discouraged, it is trial and error at this point. I know it is easier said than done, but try to hang in there, you will find what is right for you.

Hi Kassandra,

I have never heard of Deplin but just looked at their site, so I have no opinion at this point. Let us know what you think.
Yes it is normal for some people to be on a combination of meds as they may compliment each other.
Take care
